I am a big fan of Danny Kirwan as well.  When it comes to the ability to switch from heavy blues/rock vibe to delicate jazz vibe, he had it all down cold.  But even more than Peter Green or Buckingham, he was a huge mental case.  Supposedly he is a full blown alchy now to boot.

I love Jeremy Spencer too.  The Elmore James stuff was pretty authentic, and I still love his first solo album with If I Could Swim a Mountain.  For Somebody's Gonna Get Their Head Kicked In Tonight alone he is tremendous.
Model One and Schallers?  Ish.

In a field full of disfunctional players and bands, the original FM was uniquely accursed with mental instability, it seems.
and yes Spencer was also a great player!

As a young teenager in the early '70s I actually watched ABC's "In Concert" more often than Midnight Special, indeed it was my first exposure to Kiss............They made a wonderful impression on me!

I would wait all week for In Concert ! Didn't it air at 12 or 1 am ? That is a great early performance of Black Diamond

Love that Lobue bass.  And the "crippled" Flying V was Paul's favorite guitar.  Peter's singing was always good too.

Highlander

Much more sedate in this country...

Curiously, in 1975, this was there first live broadcast... turns out to have been the only time they ever went out live... now commercially available with the deluxe Bullets release...

saw this tour... 8)
