Nice one, Phil...

... but when you start worrying about fin damage (stand), that's when they have to become wallflowers... ;)

My PC has several knocks already - going to look true relic in no time...  (yep - true barbarian - why fight my Pagan ancestry... :vader:)

Not worried about damage that way. Just heard about some types of stands where the padding (surgical tubing?) reacts badly with Gibson finishes. If that's true and a Ripper is a possible victim, I can avoid it easily. If it's nonsense I, or doesn't apply, I won't worry.

Your Ripper is the same vintage as my RD (70208051) and the finish on my beastie is pretty tough (or at least it was until I stripped it) - the neck has some knocks but nothing has "touched" it cosmetically - I haven't stripped the back of that...

Be aware that the early Ripper pickups attach to the body and not the pickguard like on later versions.

I've never seen one that wasn't potted in epoxy, but I suppose they exist.  just odd to see one.
