It ought to fetch a high price despite being a little later than the prime value years. A 60s EB-3 in that condition is rare.

Never seen any instrument that age that also came with the original shipping box!

I seem to recall a few years ago a Thunderbird in an un-opened original box. Don't remember if it sold.

There was that 76 Sting Ray a few years back that had been sitting in the box new. 

This one is fun though.  Truth be told, those last ones before the slot heads that had the Schallers on them stock were about as good as it could get.  A hardshell would be better, but not worth the griping.
Model One and Schallers?  Ish.

That's just amazing. Makes you wonder what it's been doing all this time.

IIRC the boxed Thunderbird was still sealed - the only way to play it was to open it for the first time. Or am I imagining that? Theres a thread somewhere here about it.

They look more like rubber-coated strings than tapewounds. They died out in the late 70's, but I saw some on a cheapo 60's Italian bass in a pawnshop recently. The bass was badly damaged but sounded awesome mainly because of those strings. If anyone knows where to find some in long scale, I'd love to have some. Most of the ones I've seen over the years have been short-scale, but I recall seeing a few JB Player cheapo P-basses strung with them.
