Hendrix Valleys of Neptune Album

It looks like this can best be described as the last of Redding and first of Cox.  I'm just wondering if this will be worth buying.  I wasn't really looking for this, but it appears the release date is today.

This won't win any new converts, but worse things have been scraped from the barrel that is Jimi's legacy:

If the rest holds up to this, Hendrix fans will probably consider it a mandatory purchase.

I was highly underwhelmed after trying through two listens. I guess I just don't get it...

I finally got around to buying the CD yesterday, but still haven't had a chance to listen to it.  I was reminded of it several weeks ago when I was in Europe and they had a video of one of the songs, Bleeding Heart.  Of course I suppose it isn't easy putting together a video when the only person still alive is Billy Cox.  But as a fan I appreciate their efforts.  I haven't seen this video in the U.S.  Of course on my TV almost all the music stations are hip hop.  I've sometimes wondered what Hendrix would think of today's music.

Edit:

Here is the video.

It's not Hendrix most brilliant release, but it's worthy though the song Valleys of Neptune doesn't even have a real solo.

Gonna have to get the Valleys of Neptune to honor Jimi.
It's been 40 years since his death--Sept. 18th.

I think most of the cuts are on other albums.
In a way it SUCKS Big Time that it's taken so long for 'em to release so many great gems.
On the other hand it's good that we're finally gettin' to hear this stuff.

Jimi was a GENIUS!!!

I am not sure. I never bought the South Saturn Delta, as it was a messed over Cry Of Love.  You can't swing a dead cat over your head without hitting some character who really knows what Hendrix's last lp was going to be, and somehow they get to play with the master tapes every few years.  I can't figure out what is on there that wasn't out already.  I had all that Loose Ends/Crash Landing/Midnight Lightning stuff, and boots, so this is just nicer sounding, and has Mitch Mitchell on there instead of some dubbed crap.  I am no fan of the Buddy Miles tracks or any of the Band of Garbage.
Model One and Schallers?  Ish.

I enjoyed this album ever more than I was expecting.  Of course I'm a big fan of the JHE, so that's not surprising.  "Stone Free" has always been one of my favorite Hendrix songs.  I don't particularly like the version on this album.  I'm sure there may be others who like it better than the original, but I'm not one of them.  Other than that, I really like this album.  As an aficionado, I plan to spend a lot of time listening to these songs.  This was well worth the money.

Here is a good review
