In that case we'll just have to find a 72/73 to 78 SG to measure. I suspect it will be the same thickness as the basses.

Mine is (est '74 SNo 136000) effectivey bare wood at the moment and (without digging out a set of calipers) measures 1 1/4"

ok, well Kens is the same as the SG special shown in the '75 catalogue - I suppose 1 1/4" is close to 1 5/16"

I checked this morning and my seventy-two and younger SG shape basses are quite a bit thicker than anything that went on before or after - the nineties one-off SG long scale bass I obtained from gracious George being the one and only exception. A guitar that thick would have looked awkward.
We've taken too much for granted ... and all the time it had grown ...

my original fear was ordering a Warmoth body too thin @ 1.5". looks like being too thin isn't going to happen anywhere soon.
