Hi. Meet Seiwa ;D
This is part of the collection - had the camera out again.  8)
The main reason for posting this, is that although I have had it
for some time now but I know very little about it, despite following
all the usual lines of enquiry.

There seems to be an association with Azumi?
Great bass, even left the odd strings on that came with it - deep thud!
If anyone has any info, or has a Seiwa, I would love to hear from you.

Cheers.  :)

Hey Eric, I remember Siewa basses and guitars here in Australia from the 80's.

They retailed at about $280 - $350 each
I'm quite sure they are Japanese. Seiwa was a Japanese emperor who abdicated in the year 858
The rest of this info is just me trying to put 2 and 2 together
The web generally seems to make a connection with Ibanez suggesting they were made in the Fuji gen Gakki factory but to my eyes the styling is more akin to the Matsumoku product from that era 81 -92. Especially the the neck through body and the hardware. Think Aria basses. The 3rd possibility is Dyna Gakki  who have manufactured the Ibanez and Daion brands. I've seen some Daion basses similar to your bass.

Looks like a nice bass good luck with it.

Bret, Hi.

Thanks for the info. :)

I have since had pics of Azumi basses and Onyx guitars, that have Very similar features,
so I think they must all be from the same stable.

I will get some pics up.

Cheers. :)

Almost look a little like the old Oakland basses too.

Good day, fellow Low Enders.

Today, me and a some friends are off to a Beer Festival - Mmmm, nice.
For all of you on the other side of the pond, that's sitting around, drinking flat beer, at room temperature!!
So, in eager anticipation, I've got up early - sitting here with a steaming coffee, waiting for the off. ;)

So, I've got five minutes to add some more Aria.

The first one is a second series SB1000 and I've never seen another one, except on Graeme Fyfe's exellent Aria Site.
http://www.prog.rockers.co.uk/aria.htm Well worth a look. :)
The SB is detailed here - http://www.prog.rockers.co.uk/sb10002s.htm

The pics aren't brilliant, must try harder! ;D

This one is a medium scale TSB 650. Loads of different sounds on this one.
Fast to play, because of the scale but is the weight of a normal scale, with a handful of neck.

and finally. . . . . . an SB II, which is normal scale but sounds very much like the TSB.
Selection switch, that I leave in the middle, stacked volume and tone (why aren't more basses fitted with this)
and series switches, as per the TSB.
Mmm, Nice! :)

Just look at the grain on that.

That'll do for now. :)

Cheers.  :)

They look beautiful Eric. I've always been a fan of the neck through Aria's.

I used to see Neil Murray playing an SB1000 quite frequently whilst he was with Whitesnake; I also remember trying one and being disapointed by the "feel", so ended up buying a Hohner Jack. If you look at this reverse shot of mine you can see how similar the neck heel is to the SB1000...

Definitely not shy, but I posted some pictures that upset some of the purists ( :P ) round here...

More in her now, but I'm tempted to transfer them to the front of the Hiwatt and do something radical to her...
