been working on this on and off for 18 months or so, but it's finally completed.  it needed a re-fret and I decided to get it refinned (semi-gloss nitro) as well.  also rewired it with a 3-way toggle, 2 vol, 2 tone and got a tort guard from Roger (Jeannie's Pickguards).  sounds much better than the original circuit to my ears, it's much brighter and has a bit more range as well.

That's looking really nice, the tort pickguard is perfect!

I applaud how you did away with that silly varitone and the useless mid freq control! Love the toggle on the tort and the 4 controls.

Beautiful!
Typical those hybrid Gibsons we've seen lately.
Wonder what took "us" so long.

thanks for the comments, I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out.  I like to solo the neck pickup quite a bit, so I had to modify the wiring to accomodate that.  plus I couldn't see the value of having a choke in the circuit (anybody need one?); these pups are not mudbuckers by any stretch.
it's a bright sounding bass, so I may play around with some different cap values.
the bridge cover is the final hurdle.  the unchromed ones from ebay turned out to be 1/8" taller than a few others that I have and they don't look quite right on the bass.  1/8" doesn't sound like much but it's huge when you're used to the shorter specimen.
I can't wait to hear it at practice.

I really like the Torte guard on it.

Drooool!  Very nice indeed!

And I'm sure someone will want you old choke.
