No, I did not order a case. Of course it would have probably benefitted the bass if I had bought a case. I wanted to but I couldn't afford it. I was worried about it too but I figured that pretty much all guitar companies ship basses and guitars without cases and they are fine so I figured it would be okay. At the end of day I'm sure it happens every once in a while. I'm sure it even happens to the major companies like Fender and Gibson too. Another reason I didn't buy a case from Bach is because I really wanted to buy an actual Gibson case because it's black and because you can get the reverse thunderbird model that is cut to fit the body and I was going to modify it to fit the Non-reverse body shape like Rob did. I don't like the cases that are just open where the body lays in the case all loose. And yes, I will keep you guys updated with the situation, Rob and I are working on it right now.

If you can possibly swing it, order the case at the same time! These basses are very long and finding an HSC which fits them is challenging. Mostly what it takes is finding a case which is long enough (a feat in and of itself) and then modifying the inside to keep the bass from moving around. I wish I'd ordered a case at the same time and will order one through Rob at some point in the near future.

Yeah, I got the one pickup model too but I am planing on adding a second pickup at some point and getting better pickups but I am sure that I won't be able to afford that any time soon.

Those Bach cases are great for Epiphone Embassies, RDs, Gibson NR and Rev TBirds too. Only an Explorer or Flying V wouldn't fit.

Saying the Bach cases are great is quite an overstatement. I would call them dangerous. OK, I only have the one example to base this on, but I noticed on mine that the Bachbird rests on the edge of the headstock. The middle neck brace does nothing. And if the G string tuner happens to be perpendicular to the bass, it rests on the tuner and the neck is furthur off the brace. These cases might be good for storing the base, but I'd be very careful about transport. I'm in the process of re-working a brown Gibson T-Bird case for the Bach. It protects the headstock properly.

True, it's not a great case for transatlantic shipping, but it works for transporting the bass locally from A to B as scratch and dent protection. The brace is a little too low, but that can be compensated via putting a piece of cloth or foam on it. That said, with vintage basses in a case I always tend to put all tuners in horizontal position, the extra-effort of retuning is slight in comparison to a neck repair me thinks.

Btw, the sixties Gibson rev and non-rev cases have the same issue. But try finding another case where you can keep a non-rev TB in! Almost all of them are too short for the headstock, so you're happy to find one with enough room even if the brace isn't optimal.

I scored an Explorer bass case for $90 and it's shocking how big that thing is!

That is so true, but I never even thought about checking it until I say the headstock floating 1/2" (15 mm) above the floor of the case. From now on I'll be checking the position of the tuners.

I improvised an extra brace with a wide piece of foamboard, for the TH-1 I sent the other day. Works like a charm. The headstock floats freely.

I think I will advise BaCH to take over this modification. It can't be that hard to produce.
