I'm looking for early sixties Gibson bass amps, especially the GA-100

Anyone here have one they want to sell/trade

ok, didn't think so. But anyone here tried them?

I very nearly got a GA-100 recently, and really wished i'd bid a bit higher. I  had just bought an Ampeg B-15 so funds were tight, but I am still keen to get hold of one.

I know they are not particularly rated, but hey, since when do we follow the crowd?

I have a Gibson THOR. It's not from the early 60's, but rather from the late '60's. It's all tube (2 EL34 and 2 6EU7) and had (2) 10" speakers in a sealed cab design.  The original speakers were toast when I got it, but I ended up only putting one replacement speaker in and I lined the interior with some foam. I left the bottom speaker out so it would act like a port. Not very scientific or by the books - but it thumps now equal to my Portaflex.  The "head" itself sounds excellent powering a seperate 2x15 cab, and I thought of building a head box to mount it in. To my ears the THOR sounds like a cleaner version of a modern Ampeg.  Makes a good companion for the T-bird.  I always wanted to find a Gibson Atlas with a ported 15" cab, or even an Epiphone Constelation or a Gibson Titan. I just dig the looks of those!

I've got a Gibson Atlas from the mid 60s that I brought back to life a few years ago. The back of the cab is not original. I scrapped it back when I was in high school.....long long ago. It has the original CTS speaker and sounds pretty good. Running the head through a good cabinet, like my Seymour Duncan with a 15 Eminence or my vintage 15 Altec PA cabs sounds absolutely great. It comes off as much stronger than its lowly 35- 40 watt or so power rating and a better cabinet lets you get more bottom than you'll get with the CTS in the stock  cab. Actually the power rating on the Atlas is kind of a mystery. The power rating varies a bit depending what the source is but looking at the fact it runs two 6L6s it has to be somewhere in the 35-40 watt range.

i had a gibson cab like that but no amp. is that a combo?

...looks to be; if you'll note the one pic, it says "CMI Electronics." They made lots of amps in the 70's for Gibson. You see lots of their guitar combo's on eBay that use 8417 output tubes, which are beyond rare.
