You know this stuff goes on, but they got caught red handed and at more than one location!

When you have a district manger lying about who he is, you know it's at least a district-wide scam, if not national.

As much as I dislike most local news (in any city), I do appreciate hidden camera investigations.

I trust few of car repair places including some dealers. The other problem is they are like restaurants, in that they might have good honest mechanics, but they move on and get replaced by vermin. Your at their mercy if you can't watch what they are doing.

I'm not a big fan of Jiffy Lube anyway, but that report is at least three years old if not more. I remember all the uproar when that report was broadcast. Some of the B roll footage looks like it was at my local JL in Burbank. Haven't been back there since.

Anybody can do a decent and quick oil change, which is all I really would go there for.  Air, fluids.  Tranny flush?  I don't like doing that at anyplace.
Model One and Schallers?  Ish.

"Tranny flush?"  Lol.

Hey now!.....No need to get mean here!  :D

I quit using Jiffy Lube a long time ago.

If you have a young girlfriend ya don't need lube. hahaaa

Yes, this is alarming...but old news.

Old news or not, there will always be some scammers in service businesses -- even ones who don't do tranny flushes.  :D

Last summer one of the local stations did a hidden camera operation to catch scammers in the air conditioning service business. They had a central air unit at a home rewired so it had a simple electrical problem. The dishonest ones sold the "homeowner" service she didn't need and that had nothing to to with the problem, and some of those didn't actually perform the service they sold her. Some of them were honest, but even some of the honest ones couldn't diagnose the problem.

My brother works at a Volvo dealer/repair shop and what Volvo Germany actually does is regularly bug cars with hidden faults unbeknownst to the local repair shop and then grade them on their repair service. My brother even once got a letter complimenting him for finding 9 out of 10 (and now gets to repair any car the repair shop assumes to be a "test car"). Generally they are happy at Volvo Germany if about half the stuff (and especially the serious faults) is/are noticed.

Of course this Jiffy Lube fraud happens everyday somewhere. What's disconcerting is how so many of them did it and how they all immediately sheepishly turned to the district manager indicating that this was condoned from above.
