Looks nice with the refin and the new scratch plate. The pups on these are a bit uneven in output and they are neck-heavy as hell, due to the wood combo and the bolt-on neck they also sound nothing like a TBird, but go more in a P direction. But a goodlooking P!!!

I'd replace that jazz pup with another reverse pee pup, that would look cool.

How can epiphone be SO STUPID to not release a non-reverse with chrome pups?

Lack of demand, I'm sure. They need more sales to justify a release than a small company like BaCH, and there's no way to turn the NR into anything with wide appeal. Not even with lots of chrome. It's always been an ugly duckling for Gibson.

That makes sense. But i always thought it was the most beautiful bass Gibson made and that they disgraced it by putting a P and J pickup in there. I'm so happy with my Bach.

I don't think it's a refin, I don't think it is white either. It looks like the original baby blue, faded and discolored. The seller states that:

"With the pickguard off, you can see that the original color was baby blue. It appears to be discolored by cigarette smoke, otherwise. I never tried to buff it out but I suppose that might work"

I always loved playing my Epi 5 string bass live.  Even though the sound wasn't all that impressive it always got attention.  I put some Gibson knobs on it and decent pots and jack to improve the tone a bit.  I paid $175 for it with the original case 4 years ago.

I had one those about 12 years back, I tried so hard to buddy up that bass - The string spacing was just a bit too tight for me  :-[

Very tight!  I had DR Hi Beams gauged .120, .100, .080, .060 and .040 and it made it a bit easier.  I eventually went back to the wider spacing.

I dont think it is white but the Sea Foam green one poorly photographed.

"It's always been an ugly duckling for Gibson."

So true. Reminds me of John Lennon cruelly quipping to George who came in as third-most-favorite Beatle in a sixties poll: "People only voted for you because they thought nobody else would."

That explains the taste- and eyesight-defying popularity of Non Revs in this forum too. An over-abundance of compassion.
