Pulled the trigger on a '79 Strat...

This one... I like the wear and the white primer showing through the red.

And the price was right too, I think... $1,256. With $160 shipping to Israel and 15.5% V.A.T I should end up paying about $1,600. Around here these things sell for twice that price. So if I don't like it I can always sell locally and make a nice profit.

The seller says he will include the original bridge pickup. I'll probably receive it in two or three weeks.

I don't think water would cause a wear pattern like that. Looks like it's just natural wear, not from abuse. If so, you got a good deal on it.

Congrats! I just sold my lefty '78/'79 Strat for 14 hun. Alas
Looks like yours has the cool JUMBO headstock like mine.
I'll get anuzza one before long...
For now I'll concentrate more on my Ps!!

I had a Fender Lead II with a wear pattern similar to that one. It was caused by leaving it too close to the fireplace and having the heat cause the pattern.

If it's not this case with that guitar, maybe the former owner was playing in a HOT band? LOL
