I am back to my old tricks again and making another Non-Reverse Thunderbird 8 string bass. Only this time it's going to be White Korina with a maple neck!!! Anybody know where I can find a 1 piece body blank??? Roughly 1 1/2" x 22" x 15". Thanks!

Sorry I can't help you with that but that DOES sound like an exciting project. (If not an extremely neck heavy project.)

Thanks guys. I put word out to Owl and Hardwood Connection. Will try Gilmer tomorrow.

I would love to have an eight string bass but all of them (Hagström, Warwick; except Entwistles Ricky) have the thin string before thicker one. You have to play them with a pick and I am a fingerstyle-only guy.

Sounds like a great project! Are you gonna use a normal Gibso headstock like on Pete T's 12 string Nonrev Firebird?

Bionic-Joe

Don't kn ow who Pete T is but yes. Just like the first one I built.

Chris P.

Ow, sorry. Pete Townshend. His brother uses it now with Who concerts,

Chris, try using your fingernails in a downward fashion, like suddenly opening a balled fist, and you can also catch the strings on the way back up - more use for chording, but worth experimenting with...

Got me a slab of white and I mean white Limba/Korina!!!! 1 7/8" thick x 23" x 15". All I need is one... not two... but one Orville pickup!!!!
