I agree. I'd add a chrome pup and leave it alone. It looks cool already.
I'm fixin' a hole where the rain gets in..........cuz I'm built for a kilt!

Well...I've been thinkin'...IF...and I say IF...you want, I will trade you my black 1985 Hamer B8S black 2 pickup 8 string bass for it.

Nocturnal

I'd throw in a chrome pickup and be done with it. The mojo on that finish looks great!

Maybe buy a chrome casing (plus mount ring) from Greatdealz at Ebay, and put it over the black?

I'd leave it alone! It looks great as it is.

I know you are fond of T-Bird II's, but the route is there so just deal with it. I wouldn't refin the bass or do any radical moves to make the bridge pickup go away. Just put a chrome pickup in there (mine , Lull's, or whatever) and either ignore it, or, you just may find that the bridge pickup is useful! LOL  I would have NOTHING but a IV, played 'em for 30 years, just my preference....  Just remember that filled routes NEVER totally disappear unless you put a 'veneer' over it so it will ALWAYS be there. I'd keep it a IV with the PROPER hardware and pickup installed and just don't use the bridge pickup.
If a IV and the bridge pickup is that much of a turnoff, dump the thing to someone who likes the double pickup model (for more $$$) and buy a genuine bonifide II. My .02.

A friend of mine just got a dark dark dark red Les Paul.
Looks like a Black Beauty til ya get enuf light on it.
That's what I'd probly do if I ever did a refin.

Saw a real cool refin recently that was a silver blue with a touch of green here & purple there....something like a pigeon haha...but it looked really coool & different.

Hey~ You've got the skills to do something WILD!
Most guys would have to just leave it as is. I say Do It Up!
...unless of course you're too busy workin' on other people's axes.

That could be a "flip flop" paint.

I saw a car like that, from one angle the car was purple then as it went by it turned gold.

I agree with the others - Chrome and done.

But, I, personally, would be tempted to pull the toggle switch in favor of the V/V/T setup.  You could fill the extra control holes with shell casings ala Uwe 8)  38's might be too big, maybe 32's...
