I came across an interesting eBay find today about pre-orders for a new '58 Danelectro Longhorn reissue. And in so doing, went over to DanGuitars.com and saw they have a 'Sneak Peak' for the new '09 Danelectros. Which look pretty sweet.

They're offering the '58 Longhorn (in copperburst w/ pointer stacked knobs), and what seems to be a D-series guitar, and a D-series Baritone as well. All seem to have very era-specific stylings. And look really sharp.

The '58 Longhorn looks nice.

I've played the current issue ('63 style). I sure wasn't impressed by the tone. Hope they improve that.

I had a real 1960 Dano (6 string bass) and it sounded pretty aweful. I hope the new ones are better.

Me also. I really like the look of it, and have really been wanting to get a 6-string-bass.

The first run reissue longhorns (the ones in the old burst colors) were pretty good, I'm really pleased with the one that I have. But if this new one seems comparable, I'd really like to own one and upgrade the tuners, maybe even put in an on-board preamp (like Lakland's Scheff).

They now have the update with all the colors and pricing. All models and colors: $399.00 (Plus free shipping to US & Canada, and $45 international), which isn't bad.

I may start seriously considering this as I've had a yearning to buy a baritone/six-string-bass for a long time. And I'm a big fan of how lipsticks sound, and the baritone is a 29.5" neck; close enough to 30" so I could probly string it either way and get away with it.

ps. Cool Wasp Chris P. How does it sound/feel?
