Just got it today!!!!! It's the first version with the red and blue SVT and the SVT II Pro not  SVT 2 Pro. I can't believe how good and LOUD my 8 string Non-Reverse sounded!!!! Even at low volume, you can FEEL the bass!!!!

Can't go wrong there! That's about as close as you're gonna get to my '74 SVT in a modern bass head. Congrats!  :toast:

Thanks man, Hey, did you get my Voice mail about my Hamer 8 string?? It's on 3Bay right now! Hey, my new band NEW RISING SON is playing Penny Road Pub on Friday, May 1, I think we go on at 10:30 or 11:00pm. I'll be playing my Non-Reverse 8 string !!!

I did get your message. I'm gonna take a look at it on the 'bay, but I'm in a selling mode rather than a buying mode as far as basses. I'm about to drop a few grand on a new Mac and Pro Tools rig.

May 1 - would love to be there, but I'm goin to Double Door that night.

Basvarken

Congratulations to you and your ears. :toast:
My condolences to your back ;)

Does the SVT II even qualify as a "modern" bass head? It's been around so long it's almost vintage. And you're right - it's probably the closest thing to a classic SVT (as opposed to an SVT Classic).

Ha! You're right. I guess I consider anything post 70s to be "modern"!

Thanks! There is something to be said about tubes. The NR 8 string plugged into the SVT Pro II was  rattling the upstairs at rehearsal Saturday, according to my guitar player's wife! One thing I noticed...the front handles...looks like they are slighty pulling away from the face of the metal they are attached to on the front. So...i hAVE decided to carry it from underneath. It's heavy, but not like an early 70's one. And does anyone know if you can convert the rear panel to speakon??

I was going to post the same thing, I'll add that anything that has solid state parts in it other than power supply diodes is "modern". All 70's SVT's weigh about the same: 85 lbs.
