I like how Leslie West draws attention to Alvin Lee's playing.

Always liked Alvin's fluid playing. There was a time when he was likely a bit overrated as a guitarist followed by the rest of his career where he was underrated. He had a real rock'n'rill and blues groove.

Meanwhile, back in the 70s in Deutschland ...

With Jürgen Rosenthal, the original busy drummer who would join Eloy (after having to leave the Scorpions due to being drafted into the army) ...

A couple of years later with Belgian import Rudy Lenners ...

No matter how hard Rob, the a-romantic resident John Waite fan, feigns disinterest, the two (Alison + John) are an item and a happy couple!

Wow, never saw those 1973 Scorps vids before. Pre Fly to the Rainbow! Is Francis wearing a Ball State shirt? It's a college in Indiana. And Ulrich on a Gibson?  :o  Man, what an amazing guitarist he is.

I don't imagine Jurgen would be the best guy to play Rock You Like a Hurricane.

Uli really loved his Firebird in the early days - I still think it is the Gibson that comes closest to a Strat sound just like a Flying V is closest to a Tele, don't ask me why.

Yes, Jürgen and 'Rock You Like A Hurricane' are hard to envisage, he did the right thing with joining Eloy.

Truth be told, I preferred ze Scörps with Uli as opposed to Michael. That debut was extremely krautrocky still.

Of course, if you hear Michael today, he was single-handedly responsible for all of the Scorpions' and his older brother's success (which miraculously escaped MSG ...) - lots of history revisionism going on, siblings, say no more!

Jabs is technically a fine lead guitarist too, but not an auteur like Michael and Uli are. The Ronnie Wood of the Scorpions.

If only they would have had David Coverdale as a singer.
