Had a 1965 thunderbird bass refinned recently. Got it back today. Looked closely and the guy who did it FILED and Notched my saddles WITHOUT asking me, when I specifically stated  to NOT FILE the saddles. I nearly blew up!!!!! I kept me cool but... :sad:I am in desperate need of 4 saddles for a 60's bird bridge. Nickel preferred but Chrome is ok.

Man, you are having a helluva time with that Bird. Sorry....

Unrelated, but hey, look what I found:

Joe,

I'll try to give you a call this weekend.  I could possibly help you out with this.

Well..I Finally spoke with the guys who refinned my 1965 Thunderbird bass today, who will remain anonymous. Great paint job, and relic, but they insist that the notches were there in the saddles and that it should make no difference. Then the next minute, they were saying that they filed the notches lightly because the string were slipping out. ake up your damn mind!!!! And...I was told  that anybody that is a REAL Thunderbird player ONLY uses Badbird bridges so I guess that I'm not a REAL Thunderbird player. I KNOW that the Badbird bridges are ass kickin' for some of you dudes because there are basic factory tolerances that Gibson used and some were less than others.  I am a purist and personally have NEVER had trouble with a bird being intonated properly. But this is a damn shame. I desparately need a set of 4 unfiled saddles!!! HELP!!!!!

Did the dumb ass at least offer to compensate you for his stupidity?  **opps, Badbird bridges** not Badass bridges.  My bad.
I'm fixin' a hole where the rain gets in..........cuz I'm built for a kilt!

Joe, I'm confused. Were they talking  about godofthunder's limited run Badbird bridges? Or did you mean to say Badass bridges?

Either way, there is no way they should ever file the saddles on a bridge, "lightly" or not, unless you authorize them to.

I don't quite understand: You mean you regularly play with unfiled bridges?  :o That would have strings slipping off constantly the way I play and I'm not a hard hitter. Weren't they supposed to be filed in the first place (according to the individual needs and preferences of the player, of course). I never heard of anyone keeping them unslotted.

We've taken too much for granted ... and all the time it had grown ...
From techno seeds we first planted ... evolved a mind of its own ...

I have both myself and I don't have problems with slipping on the unfiled ones.  Maybe it's because I don't play with a pick, I don't know.

Do you want to trade the unslotted ones for my slotted ones?
