I know the Firebird X met lots of derision here and everywhere else - I personally think it could have gone somewhere with further development, if only as a niche instrument for players like, say, Pat Metheny and Allan Holdsworth -, but I found this excruciatingly painful to watch. And it has something very disturbing about purging the Henry J era (which wasn't all bad) in a petty way. Yikes.

Admittedly, the Firebird X is perhaps not the ideal instrument to donate to a high school music class project. And of course brands - fashion especially - destroy surplus stock all the time to prevent it from compromising the brand if it hits the secondary market. Not nice or particularly sustainable though. Reminds me of throwing away perfectly good food.

Didn't we already discuss everything there is to say about this, in this thread two years ago?
