Report: Bob Dylan Sued by Co-Writer's Widow Over Claim to Catalog Sale

Her late husband didn't have any ownership of the songs. Meritless suit, IMHO, but she'll probably get paid to go away.

Desire is my favorite Dylan album though!  I liked that whole Rolling Thunder Revue era.

She'll still get royalties from Universal, nothing has changed in that respect. Of course, Desire's biggest hit at the time, Hurricane, is no longer performed by Dylan or other people because "it has achieved its purpose", consequently it has little airplay as well. (It's my favorite Dylan tune.)

Whether she can prove a "you'll get 35% from whatever I get out of this"-arrangement is another matter. I wouldn't rule out that something as encompassing might have been intended back in the day. Interesting.

Dylan was set to play here in Halifax , but being winter his gear was delayed in Nfld and they managed to reschedule . A friend was in one of the downtown bars and discovered he was chatting with Dylan's soundman . So he had to ask what Dylan was really like .
The soundguy said "he's an arrogant little bastard "

I saw Bob about ten years ago in Glasgow. After the first half an hour or so somebody shouted "play something we know!" in a broad Glaswegian accent. This wasn't acknowledged, figuratively or literally, from the stage. We got some classics later on, but I still don't know what the first numbers were. According to the web he opened with Maggie's Farm! All I remember is seeing a guy with a white hat playing an organ, and that was Bob.

The lights went down after every number, and there was zero rapport with the audience. Just another night on the road for Bob, I guess.

No two Dylan gigs are alike. That drives some people nuts, I love him for it. I remember a gig in Saarbrücken where he played 80% 12 bar songs no-one was acquainted with. I enjoyed it greatly.

He fearlessly dismantles his legacy every night and reassembles it again as the mood strikes him - that's art.

BTW: He's stopped playing guitar and started playing piano/organ because of the arthritis in his hands.

It's a popular misconceptions that memorable artists must somehow also be nice people ... More often they're not. The list is endless Miles Davis, Picasso, Andy Warhol, David Bowie, Ernest Hemingway, Roger Waters, Marlon Brando ...
