From his cousin Marty Weinstein:

"Mark Thomas-His heart stopped for 30 minutes yesterday. He doesn't have Covid. He's been on a ventilator now for two days and his body is shutting down. He's in kidney failure as well. I suspect the root cause of this was diabetes, it runs in our family and we've lost others to it, it a monster to the circulatory system".

I've seen a few rock star posts today mentioning it. It sounds like they expect him to be gone imminently. I don't know why some deaths hit me harder than others (especially among people I never personally knew), but I'm already feeling blue over Leslie and he's still here.

He battled that illness nearly all his life, even lost a leg to it. Let's just hope for a smooth transition. The man who (not only) gave us a few notes of Jingle Bells on a heavy rock live album.
We've taken too much for granted ... and all the time it had grown ...
From techno seeds we first planted ... evolved a mind of its own ...

Sad news......... I bought my first Mountian album nearly 50 years ago...... He will be missed.
There's no such thing as gravity, the earth just sucks!!

He's gone through a lot over the years and that he's made it this far is almost like the miracle of the Hanukkah oil burning for eight days. He gave the world much light and joy through his music. I feel blessed to be among those that were able to share in what God gave Leslie to give.
Contrary to what James Bond says, a good Gibson should be stirred, not shaken.

Over at Facebook Dean guitars writes:
"With a heavy heart, we are saddened hear about the passing of #Dean Artist and part of the Dean family, Leslie West. Legendary and one of a kind. Rest In Peace."

So I guess he's gone.
RIP Leslie West.

One by one, they all go home... rip...

Only got to see him play the once... with Corky and Mark Clarke, iirc, in of all places Paris, supporting DP on the Perfect Strangers tour...
The random mind of a Silver Surfer...
If research was easy, it wouldn't need doing...
Staring at that event horizon is a dirty job, but someone has to do it; something's going to come back out of it one day...

R.I.P. I got to see him on stage only once at a festival in 1998.

RIP, a unique artist Leslie West.
It's not those who write the laws that have the greatest impact on society.  It's those who write the songs.
