That's the same TRC they used on the HP SG guitars. They obviously had some left over (and probably still do). The Les Paul HP models also had metal TRCs but with the name of the model stamped.

That finish looks better close up, otherwise I dunno why they went back to the 70s turd spectrum.

Despite that it is pretty cool - I'd be interested.

I assumed that was the neck pickup blend knob. Wouldn't be the first time a Gibson description didn't match the actual instrument, but these are the controls they describe - "a five-way toggle switch, 1 Volume and 1 Tone control, a neck pickup blend knob..."
