Way back when he was actually selling used and vintage basses, Steve Barr had a piezo Explorer just like this.

Uwe has a piezo Explorer, IIRC it's solid red.

Yes, and it's not even as novelty as it sounds. My Piezo Explorer (they were called Shadow Explorers after the name of the - German made btw - piezo system) has more brawn, mids, bass, presence and "even string to string response" than my reg Grabber pupped one. Forget the sterile piezo sounds you know from alder, ash and maple basses; maho and piezo is a warm combination. The only thing that reveals this baby as a piezo instrument (looks excepted) is the 3D "smack in your face" direct quality of the tone. They also brought out a Q-90 with piezos as a lined fretless, fretted models might possibly also be out there.

We've taken too much for granted ... and all the time it had grown ...

I like it! Why am I not surprised that Uwe has one?
Nice evaluation yet again, Herr Mod.

Only had access to see it now, this is a lovely specimen it has to be said. The stripey ones are rare as is, but this one is black stripes on white rather than the other way around which I've never seen with or without piezos. Yummy!

Mine is just a Ferrari red one, sniff  :-\

The clean look comes out even better on my white/cream Q 90 (those are not frets, but lines on a fretless board) where they have been absolutely purist in even leaving all controls off (you can adjust overall and individual strong piezo vol in the back compartment though).

I recall seeing a line 6 guitar or bass with no visible pups. I was kinda confused at first & then figured it out (duh)It has  a great look. The white one with no controls is very cool . I have a fretless Godin /tele shape bass I like a lot & it has a clean top except for some small slide controls. With just a piezo it makes the wood sing true to its reputation. interesting......very interesting....
