Deep Purple, Iron Maiden, Whitesnake, Black Sabbath, et cetera. None of them would have sounded the way they do/did, if it wasn't for Martin Birch.

Everybody knows his stellar work with Deep Purple, Purple-spin-offs such as PAL, Whitesnake & Rainbow, Black Sabbath, early 70ies Fleetwood Mac and of course Iron Maiden, but he also made Blue Öyster Cult sound better than they ever sounded before (or after).

And Martin deserves eternal thanks from our community for always TURNING THE BASS UP LOUD!!!

Staring at that event horizon is a dirty job, but someone has to do it; something's going to come back out of it one day...

RIP Martin Birch.  Just starting out as an engineer on Beck-Ola in early 1969 was an accomplishment in itself.

It's not those who write the laws that have the greatest impact on society.  It's those who write the songs.
