The refin is very nice. Despite the description, I'm not sure the tuners are original; did these ever come with metal buttons?

It sounded great, that deeper tone you get with the thicker body than the SG-style EB-0. Action was high but it didn't look like it needed a neck reset. I didn't check the relief and there was room to lower the bar bridge a bit. If anyone is interested I can ask them to adjust it.

Price is reasonable for what it is. I'm not in the market and can't afford it, but it's a nice one.

Ooo, that's on my list of things I want but don't really need. But I hope to at least play one. Beautiful!

That is a nice one, I'm long over due for a trip to Willie's. I do believe the tuner buttons are original. About 20 years ago, I bought 4 vintage Firebird tuners to replace the shrunken buttons on my '59 EB-2. The base of the tuner button helps stabilize these wobbly tuners. The EB-0 was the only model that came with nickel buttons, (EB-1 white, EB-2 pearloid).  The nickel buttons were a permanent fix for the bass though not original to this model. Back to the EB-0, the washer the output jack is mounted to looks like a repair of sorts.

The 1959 EB-0 did have the plastic buttons.

The description on this one says "the headstock carries the plastic-button Kluson banjo tuners Gibson inexplicably preferred for bass use up into 1960..."

Thanks Dave! I don't recall where I picked up my misinformation...... I have seen a few with nickel buttons, one is the TV Yellow EB-0 in Rob's book. They may have been replaced for the same reasons I replaced mine.

The TV Yellow one in Rob's book is the one I bought for Uwe in San Antonio. Those were replacement tuners (and a refin, of course).

The color of that bass has an interesting background I would like to go into in a bit more detail if I may?  8)

Mine HAD a one of a kind sound, all middish and overdriven. Turned out the pup was broken and when it gave up the ghost I had it rewound and now it muffles like all the others!
