..on this Spooky Tooth footage?  I love this guy's tone, but I'm not familiar with this axe (and I guess this is back in the day before we cut excess string away from the tuners?  ??? )

It is!

I have a great '64 Burns Vista Sonic with low impedance pick ups. A bit like a Les Paul Recording. Those old Burns basses are great. very, very fat and even versatile. A lot of British studio players use(d) them.

There aren't much famous Bison users; Andy Bell of Oasis uses reissues live and sometimes originals on recordings.

Thanks!  (Sorry for posting in the wrong forum Dave....)

Its pretty cool me thinks - he's got a tiny little combo amp (I think) in this footage, dwarfed by that Leslie for the organ.  Heh.

Mick Winters, the former bassist for Dragstrip Syndicate (RIP) played a Burns most of the time.  GREAT sound...

Lotsa history in that band - Gary Wright on keys, Greg Ridley on bass (not in this vid, though he's playing on the track - might not be the Burns you're hearing) and the ever-dangerous Luther Grosvenor (later Ariel Bender) on guitar.
