Gibson Pit Cd
« on: July 29, 2008, 04:43:27 AM »
While on vacation, my son hooked up his I-pod to our cars audio (aux) and played songs from the Gibson Pit Cd that were on his play list. I was really shocked he still listened to it after this long?

You know it still sounded pretty darn good!

His favorite of late is Granny's band - We Love - "Shake Up"

Maybe down the road we can do a Last Bass Outpost CD?

I have'nt listened to my copy in a while but this is a good reminder. A Last Bass Outpost CD would be nice.

Ironically, I was listening to this just this week as well as the two 'Pit Licks' CD's from back in 2004.

Hey - my ears are burning (thanks for the kind words guys).

I was actually listening to that disc the other week while reorganising the record collection onto the new shelves I built (Dana and I have merged our collections - it's serious).

Dana: " THAT is Uwe's band - but they sound so ... British'

... also, We Love's guitarist got hit by a car a few months ago.  He's still in the hospital/rehab but they expect him to be recover fully - it'll just take time.

Robert Plant and Jimmy Page (drummer and bassist of Deep Purple, Jake!)

My son had an interesting comment on "Shake Up". He felt it had a little "Queens Of The Stone Age" guitar vibe going, which I never thought about before (he liked it)

Gute Besserung for the guitarist!

Yes, Downing Beat unashamedly "tried" to sound British from the outset. I'm not sure whether that concept was initially a good one, much less whether it remains to be today. We have endless discussions about that, even wrote two songs with German lyrics (at my pushing). We're kind of fractured about the topic currently.

Long time no post Jake, prenuptial proceedings smoothing along nicely, I'm happy to hear. You've merged collections?  :o :o :o Without prior legal advice that was a rushed step if I've ever seen one!

I applaud the effort, half the time (in general) song lyrics are so redundant, cliche, lame or lack any meaning (R.E.M.).

European languages provide a fresh sound to my ears and I really don't care what the song is about so much, unless you're Stan Ridgway or Les Claypool.

I still treasure a little note Uwe sent me with the CD of his band. It says something like:

'Liebe Chris,

Hier ist ein CD mit Moffenbritpop.'

I laughed my ass of.. In Holland we call the Germans 'moffen' and that isn't positive;)
Germany = Mofrika, a Dutch girl dating a German soldier was like a Moffengirl. Uwe's a nice Mof though;)

I sometimes feel uncomfortable  :-[ :-[ :-[ playing with a backdrop like this:

The only redeeming thing about this pic is that I'm playing Herr Carlston's 1986 TBird II in it. Generally, George's basses are in good hands with me. That would hold true for more recent SG shape acquisitions too, of course ...

You bet. I'm casting spells for George to wake up one morning with a fervent violent hate of anything SG shape!!!

And he knows I'm after this thing. That is why he keeps so quiet about it.
