When my son was a teen ager, (over 20 years ago) I helped him get into a Q-80 identical to this one. The seller of this one claims that it is one of only 30 ever made. If he is correct, it might be rarer than the infamous 20/20. What do you think the odds are that it is one of 30?

I don't believe there were that few. An image search seems to show at least a dozen different ones, and that only covers ones that have been sold online or posted at bass forums. There must be dozens owned and never shown online. Still, it's relatively rare.

Have you seen the one on Minneapolis CL? The seller doesn't have a pic of his own bass so he posts a pic of a Q-90.  :o  It's on consignment at Lavonne's. http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/dak/msg/5577396623.html

Lavonne's doesn't have it listed yet.
Sometimes when a seller lists info about a guitar, he has a reliable source for his stats. I've run into sellers who actually worked at the Gibson factory when the guitar was made. Other times, I think they just make this stuff up.................... :o

It's only been on CL about a month. Pete doesn't list much on his website and may not keep it current. He does keep his FB page current but it's not shown there. I suppose he'd rather feature his own stock rather than a consignment.

But it's "Transparent red lacker".

Only 30? Perhaps the seller had too many glasses in the lacker store? Add at least a 0. For a while it was the main bass they made - before other models got into gear.
