I got that CD too ("A Blues for the New World"), it's nice and more BS&Tish than those Blues and Soul ballad albums he also does to earn a (Canadian) buck.

That said, BS&T were always both: demandingly experimental in their instrumental workouts and then ear-anointing (to the point of light cheesiness) on the next track, strangely enough, I liked both! I'm the guy that can follow up Miles Davis' Bitches Brew with Tony Orlando's Yellow Ribbon and enjoy both.

His new CD "Combo" is once again more in the AORish direction, the man has to keep an eye on his (age) demographic!  :)

I note that he doesn't call them "covers," he refers to them as "standards."  Very appropriate term.

Is there any way in which the rock hits of the 60's and 70's that have been played a thousand different ways are not "standards" now?
