Lucked out and bought this one late last month.  Body and neck both date 08-20-81 and had the EMG's installed by Stars Guitars in 1983.  I have the original PAF Dimarzio pickups but the original pots were gone.  I had an early production (1984) Jackson Concert Bass but this is the first early Charvel bass I've seen in person.  They didn't start with serial numbers until later in 1981. Nice score!

I used a Charvel one piece left handed PBass neck on my first FenderBird in 1982.  Great neck, still have it.

Steve Soar (ThunderBucker) worked at Hollywood Sound a few years before that.  One day they sent him out to Charvel's shop in Sun Valley, he says it was next to a strip club.

Well,   there's your Charvel version of a P-J.  Enjoy!

Those didn't start until until a few years later. ;)  Mike Eldred built this one.  He was Grover Jackson's first employee hired in 1978.  The first 750 guitars/basses had no serial numbers but did have the order number written on the neck.  Mine is #729 so near the tail end.  It is crazy how much these things sell for now.  I was super lucky.
