I was almost 11 years old when this took place about 5 miles from my parents house - It's not much noted in Pop history but there is quite a list bands, including Led Zep. I easily recall being able to hear it while playing outside that weekend......

The white dome structure is where I saw Slade a few years later.

This link is pretty good, it was quite an event. Nowadays the area is very built up with tech industries, (including the Nampeg folks!) and several famous Wineries, most notable being Chte. Ste. Michelle, who put Washington State on the world map of Wines.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand? Did they take you "to see the hippies", hoping it might teach you a lesson?

Hey, hey!  My 7th grade teacher took the class on a field trip to Old Town in Chicago during the height of the hippie movement.  We were exposed to head shops, funky clothing and flavored popcorn.

I learned something new from that article: the Led Zeppelin mudshark incident.  :o

I'll have the red snapper, please.

I only knew about the mudshark incident, via Frank Zappa's Live at Fillmore album, never knew about this festival.

Oh no!
My German mother most certainly did not like hippies, she didn't want me to have long hair or let me wear clothes that were even kind of in step with fashion. At that point in my life and for quite a long time I was a very awkward child - All the usual teenage things plus the desire to wear Mom's clothes, you know  :-*

Dave, I'll try to get a shot of Uwe at the Edgewater, it's still there!

Uwe, are we going fishing while you visit?

I think the fish in Elliott bay are not so good, lots of heavy metals!
Perhaps a trip to the Peninsula to fish the Hoh River is in order

Let's toast the occasion with Single Malt Scotch instead.

Ah... the Highlands are getting closer and closer...

Only a matter of weeks before the Scots get their chance to loose the shackles of oppression, and become the outcasts of Europe... ;)

Hmm... I wonder if they'll offer special revenue discounts on Malt for residents...?
