Cool, one of my faves, plays just like me.  :)
Band I was in in early 2000s was playing SXSW on a bill with several Euro bands, I was playing my Ric 4001CS. After our set, for the rest of the night all the Euros were calling me "Hooky". I finally had to ask what they were referring to and they told me I played just like PH of JD/NO, and even played a Ric(even tho' his was a faker) too.
Through my Punk days of late 70s/early 80s I'd heard of JD but never knowingly heard them. After that gig I bought a couple CDs and heard what they were talking about.
PH and The Light are coming to Austin next month, gonna go.

He has a great collection of basses. It was featured in a British magazine. Still looking for a new copy or scan, since mine dissapeared. Try to interview Hooky for years, but something happens each and every time...

I can't believe they interview the guy and don't hand him one of those new EB 335 basses or a Midtown to try. Gibson is hopeless in advocating its brand with bassists.
We've taken too much for granted ... and all the time it had grown ...
From techno seeds we first planted ... evolved a mind of its own ...

Yep, thought that too. The Midtown would be close to what he's playing.

I agree at least for the interview he could pose. He is particular about what he likes and it seems he has been sticking with that one bass over the past 5-6 years. I recall when he did that BASS PLAYER interview some 6 years ago he shose the Casady bass they had on hand cause it looked like hi. And then he just held it up by the strings or the long and not curlies.

Actually there is a much better recent interview with Hook at www.notreble.com
