Jules has posted sound clips of a '73 Musicmaster Bass through a '64 B-15N. These had the same 6-pole pickup used on the Musicmaster guitar. Very nice.

Yep. I have a '78 that is awesome. Has that old-school tone. Nothing wrong with 6-pole guitar pickups... like Ric toasters, used on their basses and guitars.

I have a oly white '78, nice little bass :) every once and a while I take it to rehersal, it sounds hot through my Ampeg B25!

A friend of mine bought a '71 in Daphne and it sounds great. My sonic blue Squier Musicmaster ('97) with matching headstock had a special four pole, but it was changed for a six pole. Nice too!!

We discussed it before:

Duesenberg bass humbuckers are six pole, Dano used one type of lipstick for guitar and bass, the new Gibson 335 Bass has a guitar humbucker, the Ricky toaster is for guitars too.

If you mentioned the Duesenberg bass pickups before, I missed it, nice to know.

Not sure about the Gibson 335 Bass, it's guitar-sized but has it been confirmed that it has 6 poles?

Chris P.

Yes, see my post about it in the Gibson section. The Gibsion R&D guy told me at the Musikmesse that it's a standard '59 humbucker. He was proud of the fact it worked so good for bass. Now they're busy making an EB-2 for next year.

Duesenberg now has some special split coils and singles for bass too, but their humbuckers have six poles.

Thanks, Chris, too many threads for me to remember that it was a Gibson rep who said it.
