What are the proper buttons for the RD Artist Bass?  I want to replace the schaller strap lock buttons on mine with the stock items.  Would the current Gibson strap buttons be correct for the bass or should I look for some from 1978?  Thanks for any help!

Mine were standard before I changed them to Schaller Strap Locks.

There are some nice closeups of a 1978 RD Artist here: http://www.andybaxterbass.com/details.php?id=224

As you can see, it's the usual round style button.  Only a few late models (1981 for sure, maybe some 1980?) used the Posi-Lok diamond shaped buttons.

http://store.gibson.com/strap-buttons/ - look the same to me, but I'm at work and have only had a cursory glance.

Thanks for the info guys.  I'll probably just go with the new Gibson aluminum ones.  I use Dunlop strap locks on my gigging bass but I like the stock basses to look stock.  8)

First thing I do when I buy a bass is install Schaller strap locks, I had too many close calls with my EB-2 & fuzzy strap! I put the original strap buttons in the case to have them on hand just in case I want to sell it, but I don't trust them!!

I don't install strap locks, but when a bass features them, I don't remove them either. I'm a lazy bum.
