That is stupid on so many levels.
The guy who bought the same bass twice — first in 1977 and again in 2023

Come on; The body shape should at least be a symetrical doublecut.

It even has TWO MAGNET humbucker pickups.  Is there another kind?

Actually, yes, but still funny to mention (generally single mag pups tend to the high end or at least vintage; just about any stacked humbucker for example, maybe vintage Gibson Mudbuckers too, but I'd have to double check).

Gibson mudbuckers have two magnets. Every stacked humbucker I've seen has magnet polepieces, not a separate magnet.

Gibson mudbuckers have two magnets. Every stacked humbucker I've seen has magnet polepieces, not a separate magnet.

The 90s Epi reissue has 3 (4 if you count the central magnet as 2 since it is technically 2 separate pieces laminated together to form a single larger magnet).  I figured the original might just have the one central magnet (whether or not 2 eparate pieces) but I haven't looked under the hood of one in a while.

As for stacked humbuckers, the ones with dummy coils and/or blade polepeices could definately be made with a single magnet (as I suspect the Gibson LoZ is, but I never took one apart and they're potted pretty solid).

That just looks like some stupid idea Gibson would roll out at a NAMM, with a major press announcement of it being "the next big thing"....except there would be a Custom Shop decal on it, a catchier name like "The Clone" and a couple more zeros added to the price, plus some crazy paintjob with flames and sparkles.

....oh...and some big name endorser playing it (or maybe Two-Face from Batman :)

Sort of reminds me a bit of the old Roberts Rotoneck guitars, with two fingerboards at 45 degrees on the same neck, that you rotate to select.
