I keep forgetting to mention this band, Dead Meadow. I've had one of their cds for a long time and this song is on my my favorites.
Great bass starting around 4:31 or so. From the YouTube clips I've seen, the bassist uses a Ric.

Wow, a melodic, non-jazzy bass line that doesn't use any slapping technique. I thought those were outlawed long ago? I bet the bass player heard a lot of Geezer Butler, right down to the groove.

Like the music too.
We've taken too much for granted ... and all the time it had grown ...
From techno seeds we first planted ... evolved a mind of its own ...

I like this song a lot. They have a couple of other cds, but this is my favorite track of all of them. The singer, who plays a Telecaster, has improved is voice a lot.

Finally getting to check out this music - I like! I'm not 100% into the vocals, but I don't hate them either. Definitely like the guitar bass & drum sounds, and the overall vibe. I'll have to keep an eye out for the CDs...

By the way, anybody know how to get that bass sound? I'm not one to copy sounds, but I like the sound in the first video.

Really nice songs! Great bass, love that moving floor-shaking wall style. Thanks for turning me to Dead Meadow. Read that a couple of their tunes were used in The Wire. Sign of the producers good taste!

I love his Ric sound!
Here's some live footage. Maybe one can glean some info from it.
