They don't seem all that odd.  The pets I've had have been:

Ginger Rogers (cat)
Albert Einstein (Shih Tsu)
Roseanne Barr (siamese brown point)
Pretty Boy Floyd (cat)
Sammy Giancana (cat)

All of them are gone.  I miss my last two cats.

In my country I'm pretty well known, working for the most watched TV news broadcast and not looking like most guys on the news. So yesterday at a coffee shop a guy comes up to me and shows me a picture of a long-haired dog on his cell phone, Yorkshire Terrier IIRC, says he named his dog Lukatch (that's my last name)... Should I be flattered or insulted?

I'd take it as flattery.

A buddy of mine had a cat named Smeg. He also had a cat named Spot.
A girl I once dated had a dog named Rock Helicopter.
We have a really gentle but skittish cat named Satan.

I had a chow-chow named Dio.

That's an odd sentence that I can't believe I wrote.

When I was growing up, we had a smooth fox terrier named Spot (she had one, too!). I guess Rover and Fido were already taken.
