you should use a cobra snake for a neck tie.

RIP Bo.  I loved that cameo he made on George Thorogood's Bad To The Bone video.

Who Do You Love?

Bo Diddley (Ellas McDaniel) 1956

I walk 47 miles of barbed wire,
I use a cobra-snake for a necktie,
I got a brand new house on the roadside,
Made from rattlesnake hide,
I got a brand new chimney made on top,
Made out of a human skull,
Now come on take a walk with me, arlene,
And tell me, who do you love?

Who do you love?
Who do you love?
Who do you love?
Who do you love?

Tombstone hand and a graveyard mine,
Just 22 and I dont mind dying.

Who do you love?
Who do you love?
Who do you love?
Who do you love?

I rode around the town, use a rattlesnake whip,
Take it easy arlene, dont give me no lip,

Night was dark, but the sky was blue,
Down the alley, the ice-wagon flew,
Heard a bump, and somebody screamed,
You should have heard just what I seen.

Who do you love?
Who do you love?
Who do you love?
Who do you love?

Arlene took me by my hand,
And she said ooowee bo, you know I understand.

Who do you love?
Who do you love?
Who do you love?
Who do you love?

I did a gig with him for the Killeen (TX) High School reunion in 1986. One, he was the LOUDEST guitar player I'd ever played with, two, I wouldn't have had it any other way. He was f***ing BO DIDDLEY after all.

I took the band of youngsters I had at the time through a primer on Bo's greatest hits, they had never heard of him. When they met him and we had our first soundcheck we were all aghast that he played NOTHING like the old classic hits. Louder and more rocked out but still funky. Treated me and the kids great, very patient and supportive. Taught our girl singer to play the maracas like Jerome Green. Bet she tells that story to her kids now. He gave us an education, I'd always idolized him and he was a gentleman. The originator.

I also love the The Hawk + The Band @ The Last Waltz version of Who Do You Love, but the original is just scary. Love it!

Now I have to buy a Gretsch Billy Bo Jupiter Thunderbird Bass to honour the guy. If I only had the money...
