Ok...Has anybody else realized this??? i know this is an old problem...Especially with those BlackBird basses....
Here's the scenario....Hiwatt at 1/2 on Master and main.....Chrome Orville...Buzzing or 60 cycle hum.....Black T bird Pickups...same thing....TB Plus pickups....same thing....Tonewise????? UNf***ING Insane!!!! But that buzzing....what does one do??? Why are these Gibson pickups like this??? the Nickel Orville was quiet...But not as MONSTROUS as the others....

I've heard that most of the TB+ pups haven't got their magnets properly grounded or something like that.
Don't be stupid, be a smartie - come and join die schwarze Hardware party!

Happily I haven't had any that did this, but I can tell you that I read about it often over on TB.

Links wouldn't be any use to you, AFAIK nothing can be done about it. Some have the problem, some don't. I passed on what would have been my first T-bird about 10 years ago b/c it had this problem despite everything else being properly grounded. It was used, out of warranty, Gibson customer service said no repair was possible, I wasn't going to sink money into replacements.

Yeah, strangely, Gibson's "humbuckers" are noisier than any single coil bass I've owned. It's manageable.

Hiwatt on 1/2...  ;D

They really should just go back to the original design!  ;)

I agree.  No problems with any of my original '60's pups or the 40+ ThunderBuckers I've played thru dodgy amps in my barely grounded trailer.

Going back to the original design would mean giving bass customers what they want. You know Gibson's not going to do that.
