I've never seen one! Were they after market? Or standard on some models?

I'm fixin' a hole where the rain gets in..........cuz I'm built for a kilt!

Aftermarket, no production model had them. Fender tried to jump on the high-mass-bridge bandwagon, but that thing was too much.

I seem to remember some Fenders coming through the HOG with those on, but I could be mistaken though I clearly remember seeing these and thinking wtf?

It was made by (or for) Fender, but I think Ilan is right, it wasn't stock on any model.

Totally remember those from the pages of Guitar Player magazine in the early 80s.  :bored:

A very very small number of the Precision Bass Specials came with them stock.  I think to get rid of them.  They were heavy, but you were supposed to have a brass nut to counter-balance them.

They made brass thumb rests, knobs and tuners to do up your bass all wrong.

There's a brass thumb rest on German eBay, also with Fender-logo engraved.

I saw one of those abominations installed on an old Music Man Sabre, complete with matching brass nut. It didn't really change the sound, but it gave me a whole new appreciation for the understated but similar G&L bridge.
