While in Seattle, I had the great pleasure of having lunch with the inimitable TBird1958 at Seattle's Icon Grill.

What a fantastic and interesting guy!

Yes, he is indeed very tall!  And like many of us, he's over 40 and rockin' hard.  Looks great, and his hair carries more than a bit of that same color you see in his avatar.

It was a great pleasure to meet him and learn a bit of his life story - which features a short period living in my home town, Pullman, at the same time I lived there.

Mark is a very cool guy and I hope more of you have the pleasure of meeting him.

Hey Al!

First a big Thank you! I always enjoy meeting fellow bassists, but as it turns out for Al and I it's one of those "it's a small world" kind of things. I thought it funny that I, the somewhat urban Drag Queen should show up in cowboy boots and blue jeans, while Al, from Colorado would be looking sharp in slacks and nice shirt, an interesting juxtaposition. The Icon Grill is pretty well known in Seattle, being located just underneath the track of our famous Monorail (built for the 1962 World's Fair!), the last time I happened to visit was as my outrageous girl self! Unknowingly Al and I both lived in Pullman, Wa. in 1964 and '65 sharing memories of the small Southeastern college town's parks, little league baseball, summertime heat and several of my childhood bicycle mishaps!
As it was only about noon I got what Al calls his "Broadcaster's voice" as we shared lunch and he told me of his early life in Iowa, Washington and now happily married in Colorado and proud father of two lovely, accomplished daughters, 19 and 22 IIRC. I'd been out 'till about 3:00am the night before and at first thought about braving a Scotch (or a beer) with lunch but I opted out for coffee with a water chaser, probably a good thing too, as I might not have found where I'd parked the Subaru after lunch! We discussed basses, and our bands amongst many things, surprisingly tho he's apparently somewhat immune to GAS as we were within a mile or so of BassNW and a visit never came up.
Al is quite a guy, a much more accomplished musician than I, intelligent, outgoing and friendly - the pleasure of making the aquaintance is mine, Thanks Al!

1964 and '65? You guys are old!  ;)

Nice that you could meet.

Mark is much too gracious, but I suspect that's his nature.  I suspect that much of what he plays every gig considerably outstrips the difficulty level of the stuff I play.

Hey Dave, we may be old, but we be's rockin!

I graduated HS in '65 and I can still rock. In the rocking chair in my den.

Watch out for random kitty tails.  Those screeches are seldom in the same key as the music.   ;)

Dave, you probably graduated a couple weeks after my original birthday.  :)

Just goes to show there's no guaranteed generation gap when you have great interests in common.

BTW, in my interactions with Mark he has always been the exact guy that Pilgrim describes above. A cool guy and a straight shooting, fine human being.

In my case, doggie paws.

One rocker is a little shorter in the front than the other, thanks to my late elkhound Shadow who did her imitation of a beaver on it when she was a puppy.

I was 6 in '64!

I *may* have Al on a bit of an undeserved pedastal here, thinking you don't suffer from GAS......
Then I see that post about all those Reverends down at BassNW, you're just as weak as I  ;D

And right back at ya George, thanks

Nice meet guys and gals... ;)

I just had this vision of Dave, sitting in the rocking-chair in the den, his faithful dog by his side...
