i had both of my bands fall apart within a week of each other.i've been pretty bummed out since. jammed here and ther with a few people. and now i have a nice lil three piece. doing more of a RocknRoll punk thing. kinda Hellacopters meets Motorhead meets Radio Birdman meets the Ramones meets Rocket from the Crypt. it's cool to play something thats not superfast hardcore for a change. i even steal a Steve Harris bass fill lol.

Good luck with the 3 piece! My favorite format, though I don't mind "3 piece + singer" at all.

The drummer in my cover band put together a Hellacopters tribute band with him on lead vox and rhythm guitar for a one-off in Chicago this coming November...

good luck, Rat.  hope it comes together for you.  sounds like fun!

Sounds like a fun gig hope it works out! 3 piece with vox is the best!

thanks for the support guys. now comes a question for all you Thin Lizzy fans. we're thinking about covering the song "get out of here" from the album Black Rose. it sounds like ol' Phill is using some crazy swirling effect on the bass. what the hell is it? and can i do that on the cheap since i'm dead broke these days.

i love the 3 piece but i think my favorite is a four piece with 2 guitars. i prefer bands were the singer also plays an instrument. since most "singers" are not much more than pompous peacocks that strut around on stage.

Phil used a MXR Phase 90, but I'm not sure that's what's on this track. Sounds more like a flanger that was probably added in the mixing stage.  ???

Great news Bryan...  8)+

Rob may know the answer to that effect question as he's definitely the resident TH aficionado...

If it goes anywhere near meeting Radio Birdman it must be good!  Good luck mate. What about some Frenzal Rhomb?   Going to see them next Thu night. Irony of ironies, the new album is called "Smoko at the Pet food factory" for those not aware, I own a pet food factory   and the guys from FR are all Vegans  ;D  .   Album was recorded in Fort Collins Colarado and produced by Bill Stevenson from the Descendents.

seriously, why doesn't everybody know and love Radio Birdman? such an awesome band.
they came up alot when we were talking about influences and what direction we want to take. along with the saints, both the American and Australian X's, the avengers, naked raygun, Alice Cooper, the Stooges. kinda riding the line between punk, garage rock and good ol' rock n roll.
you posted some frenzal Rhomb (what the hell does that mean)before and yeah, they're pretty cool.
the Descendents are playing Philly next month with X and the Dead milkmen (who i saw play a few months ago) i'm gonna try to go.
most Aussie bands i know, i love. Radio birdman ,the Saints, X, of course AC/DC and Extortion etc. what other aussie bands can you recomend?

The Lime Spiders was another of my favourite bands that fell into that general genre.

Clowns of Decadence were good fun live

Mark of Cain for that more Rollins-esque sound

Celibate Rifles

Screaming Believers -

I'm still friends with the drummer out of this band in fact he lives around the corner from me. He also spent some time in another good band called the Exploding white mice.
