Wow, I sure would like to own that!   :P  I do think the entire vintage/high end guitar market has gone soft recently.  Just based on my eBay watching.

Only for US buyers who now have more money concerns in a continual failing economy with no end in sight. Now is the time to snag these basses as the American Peso keeps falling and CD's offer little. The American stock market is Russian Roulette at best. Once the real estate market continues to tank, what does one invest their dwindling dollars in?

I have noticed that Pelham Blue is not really the same as Lake Placid blue as some sites have suggested. Pelham seems to be more of a grayed/steel colored blue.

They're definitely not the same, they're just sort-of similar blue shades from two different Cadillac years. New LPB is noticeably darker and you're right, it doesn't really have that steel-gray element.

Why, Invest in Vintage Guitars & Bases of course!!  ;)

But yeah, economy wise... we're pretty tanked.

I recently saw my brother from Detroit, he was saying Michigan is basket case with unemployment up to 20% in some places. As the auto industry dies so does Michigan. Ohio is not a lot better either. Chicago is one of the bright spots in the Midwest, but things are catching up here as well.

This whole gas crunch is effecting everything from plastics to shipping. No one is immune.

Go to the bank or look at Wall Street - good luck with 3% CD's -

I do know something about guitars & basses -look at Rippers, EB's, Tbird & Triumph prices lately. Everything is going up as the dollar goes down. Of coarse better money can be made elsewhere, but not for the novice.

I do agree about all markets being soft. You just don't see the heavy bidding you used to on Ebay

A few weeks ago I stumbled across a nice fretted Wal Mk 1 w/case on CL for $1900.  I thought it was a scam at first, but after talking to the seller, and looking around on the forums I'm pretty confident it wasn't.  Someone had beat me to it, the seller was holding it for them, and I was a contigent buyer in the event the deal fell thru.  It didn't.  It'll probably show up now at some dealer for 4-6K.  Never played a Wal before, and I wasn't out looking for a Wal, but I sure as hell would have tried one out at that price.

'Cousre it would have pre-empted the Triumph deal - which probably suits my tastes better anyway.

There have been a lot of amazing deals out there lately.
