Related to his diabetes. The story

Best wishes for his recovery.

And diabetes is on the move. As we get fatter and fatter, diabetes gets more and more common. Not a pleasant thought... but that's how it is.

That sucks but if it saved his life I hope it will also buy him some good time, rather than just time. My dad's last few years were a succession of doctors cutting off pieces of each foot due to type 2 diabetes. My dad was not a big guy either. I changed a lot of dressings over the course of 3-4 years and it wasn't fun for my dad at all. Here's hoping for a swift and constructive recovery.

And he had slimmed down considerably too. His diabetes might have been a reason for his obesity, not the other way around. In any case: Gute Besserung!

Hang in there Leslie. One of my favorite guitarists.

My lead guitar player just went through  a below the knee amputation about two months ago. Actually, he went through three amputations in eight days.  First they took a toe, two days later the foot and as soon as they could clear up the infection and find  healthy tissue , they took his leg about six inches below the knee .
He is doing really well but I'm sure he has his moments. Getting around on an artificial leg presents a lot of challenges that you never think about until that time comes.
Every little thing you do requires  a degree of balance that you don't even think about until that limb is gone. Simple things like getting out of a chair require a new sense of  what it is that you are doing. Things that are pretty much invoulantary movements become things that require forethought and concentration.
Anyway, he's doing good and we're jamming tonight ;D. I wish Leslie West the very best and if he was here right now I would tell him " Stay strong and everything will be alright".

Thanks guys ;D. I never mentioned it before because it just didn't seem appropriate. The Leslie West thing kind of brought it out. We had a great jam last night and he was sounding good as ever. Diabetes is a nasty thing. Once you start getting those ulcerated sores, anything can happen. In his case, he was doing everything the doctor told him and going in for weekly check ups. One week they were discussing some more agressive treatments to accelerate the healing and the next week when he went in, they started cutting off parts :o.
In a situation like this, all you can do is play the cards you're dealt .
