Help identifying Eb pickup
« on: March 04, 2011, 08:54:53 AM »
hi guys, i'm intersted in a pickup a guy is selling, he claims it to be from around '82?? Is it possible or is it and older or newer Eb/Sg pickup?
Thanks in advance if anybody can help me. I have asked for a pic of the back, we'll see.

'72 maybe certainly not '82. I could have been bought in '82 as NOS, lots of stores had these stashed away.

I can't tell for sure, without seeing the bottom/guts.  I have an Ibanez knock off that looks completely legit from the top, but it is a single coil. Even still it was from 1976/7, but those hung around shops for long periods of time.  It is possible its legit Gibson stuff, just not made in 72.

it looks legit from what i can surmise from the photos. what does the resistance check out at? should be 28 + or - 2 Kohms. it looks like an early pup 65 and up based on the cover but not having the late model adjustable mount. i would prolly spring for it.

The guy told me it's 100% original Gibson. He couldn't test the output but has tried connecting it directly to a jack and say it works perfectly. I think i'll go for it, the price is very tempting

Looks good. If the price is in the tempting range, go for it.
