Not a success story that island is, sigh! Aren't you in need of another U.S. State? Whenever US imperialism would make good sense, it is all of the sudden shy and reticent.

US Imperialism has always been highly overrated, but even at its zenith Haiti made no sense.  Besides, our last foray into a former French colony didn't work out so well.  So now many major US cities have a recent "Little Haiti" area, and we avoided a war while getting fascinating restaurants.  They used to make baseballs down there, and decent quality.
Model One and Schallers?  Ish.
