Been playing with wool & leather gloves on sometimes these cold winter nights so Googled to see if anyone else is doing this & Voila!
Meet Etienne Mbappi:

He's with John McLaughlin now.

I was wondering if rubber gloves would work. Y'know, like food handlers & tattoo artists wear.

I'd like to market some bassplayer gloves called Second Skin once the best material is determined by developing & testing.

No, but one size fits all.

I would be worried that sliding up and down the neck they might grow too big and fall off ;D

Not just for warmth but to make it possible to keep playing when the fingertips get worn out &/or start to bleed.
Great for long gigs & long tours!!

nofi

real bassplayers don't where gloves. anytime. and their fingers refuse to bleed. that's a sissy guitar player story.

That really is like advising "sex with condoms feels better" to me. From experience, I remain unconvinced.

Gloves!!! I even think them silly with drummers! If you can't play without gloves on a long tour you either have no callouses or the wrong technique.

I use a pick. End of story...

(except when I play upright)

I use both, but am still learning pick technique.

On upright I tape my fingers, every time.
