Hey lads, i've found these pickups for sale on the net, can you tell me, by the pics, if they're original Gibsons? Looks to be from two different eras, the seller states that one is a "soapbar" and the other's a single coil (??). Hope he hasn't sold them yet.

Thanks a load.

The one with three holes is a bicentennial thunderbird pickup.

I had to look just a little closer for a moment - Rob is correct the 3 holes Chrome one is from a '76. Beware here because the QC re output is all over the map, I've seen them as low as 3k and as high as 13k.
The second one is a contemporary productuion black plastic covered twin coil humbucker, the large magnet underneath the foam blocks is from (I belive) the 3rd of 4 different pickup designs Gibson has employed since '88.

Damn, i thought the other was one of the older chromed ones... i guess the reflection on the side cheated me, or i need new glasses. Obviously our birdqueen know's the real deal, thanks alot guys (and girls)

I think the newer black plastic pickup has an original chrome cover over it though so you would still have two chrome pickups. At least that's what it looks like.

I thought so too at first but look carefully at the left side of the right hand shot, you can see the wall of the plastic shell that the pup sits in.

Yeah, I think you are right. I see it now.

The black one is a newer one like Mark said. The chrome one is from a '79 Thunderbird when they started epoxying there pickups. Should be cool for a custom build.
