The differences between the older long scale Standard and the newer Special...?

Any views please...?

The Standard has a three-point bridge, covered guitar-sized metal-cased humbuckers, and a carved top. The Special has none of those.

Totally different animals. I have not heard many good things about the Epi's

The Vince LP has a carved top correct?

Cheers for the heads up Jim but I'm working on a strict budget - If I found a (local) Gibbie in my price range I'd be more than slightly pleased, and it would certainly be a refurb job... I was watching an older Epi 34" Standard but I'm watching several things (including my accountant peering over my shoulder)...

Trying to explain the need for another bass when I already have five is a difficult thing for a wife to comprehend... ;)
