Don't be stupid, be a smartie - come and join die schwarze Hardware party!

They look cool, but I know someone who has a set on his MTD Kingston.  He says exactly what DR posted :

"The new, durable K3™ coating consistently lasts a minimum of 180 minutes, and will only wear away."

180 minutes?  That means that after a mere 3 hours (and they tested with a pick), your strings will lose the coating.  I can bet that a finger player who sweats a lot will get wear a lot sooner.

Yeah that puzzles me too.
And it gets even more weird: they claim the normal coated strings only last 20 minutes. :o

Very simple - after the color wears off and they get ratty looking, they've become reliced and thereby raise the value of the instrument.

The orange ones would suit my Thunderbird, but not the way I play... :o

They dull the tone and get ratty looking when used. That doesn't appeal to me at all.

Do they come with a free pair of spandex tights?

uwe

They still sound fine even after color wears off, I have them on a lot of my basses, no difference to non-coated strings really, in fact they last longer, but not as long as Elixiers.

Not heard of them either...? I'm not dumb enough to say, "Any good...?" but will ask how you feel they compare to most other brands you use...

Not as sharp as a set if new Rotos, more bendable than a set of D'Addarious of the same gauge, but not too soft. Pleasant to the ear really, non-abrasive roundwounds with a pleasant presence. They do have issues matching the colors string to string though, they differ in intensity and shade quite a bit.
